Annual Historic Homes Tour – September 22nd, 1:00-6:00 PM

In conjunction with the publication of Stanhope Spencer Johnson, chronologically, this tour will feature homes, churches, commercial and institutional buildings designed by Mr. Johnson.  After completing the tour, enjoy refreshments and chat with author, Carolyn Gills Frazier, at the Historic Miller-Claytor House!

Tickets $45.00

Your ticket includes the tour map and a 2020 LHF calendar showcasing some of Stanhope’s local work.

Check in and directions are listed here as beginning at the Historic Miller-Claytor House BUT ticket holders and purchasers may also start at Fort Early to begin their exploration of the architecture of Stanhope Johnson.

This is a rain or shine event.

Tickets may be purchased by credit card at Hill City TIX OR by cash or check at Fort Early or Historic Miller-Claytor House on the day of the Tour.

The Ghosts of Historic Lynchburg Walking Tour
October 24th, 25th, 26th

Feeling a little spooky this Halloween season?  Come and tour Daniel’s Hill Historic District to hear tales of hauntings and sightings.  Who knows, you may experience it yourself.

Ticket sales begin at 6:00 PM each evening at the “Y House,” 203 Cabell Street and can also be purchased at www.HillCityTIX.com.  First come, first served with a number of walks each evening.  Afterwards enjoy some Halloween cookies and apple cider.

Tickets:  $10.00 for Adults
$  5.00 for Children, 11 and younger

No rain dates.  Tours will take place rain or moonshine.

Proceeds go to the Daniel’s Hill Historical Society and the Lynchburg Historical Foundation.

First Friday @ Historic Miller Claytor House – November 1st, 4:00-7:00 PM
2200 Miller Claytor Lane

Before heading downtown for First Friday, stop by Historic Miller Claytor House in Riverside Park.  Local art will be on display and for sale.  Meet the members of the Board for Lynchburg Historical Foundation and tour the house where Thomas Jefferson ate the first tomato.  Refreshments will be served.  FREE and open to the public.  Donations are greatly appreciated.  Parking is available in the Park.

Story Time with Santa & Mrs. Claus
Historic Miller-Claytor House – 2200 Miller Claytor Lane

On November 30th, when Santa arrives at the Historic Miller-Claytor House at Riverside Park, Mrs. Claus will join him and read a story to good little boys and girls.  The house will be decorated for the holidays and filled with the aromas of evergreens and Christmas goodies.

Story times are Noon, 1:00, and 2:00 PM. Refreshments will be served.

$7.50 per child
